Death of MRS. MARION SPENCER

Mrs. Marion Spencer died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. B. Hiatt on Monday afternoon. Her health had been poor for over two years, but considerable improvement had been noticed this summer. On Sunday, although not feeling well, she walked around the block with assistance. Early Monday morning, the Hiatts heard peculiar sounds from Mrs. Spencer's room and on investigation found that apoplexy had stricken her. She passed away at two o'clock.

Mrs. Spencer came from New York nearly ten years ago with her daughter, when the latter became a member of the Winterset high school faculty and principal. Since that time, Winterset has been their home, and Mrs. Spencer, a woman of culture and refinement, although very quiet and conservative, gathered about her, a circle of sincere friends, who will miss her greatly.

Funeral services are arranged for tomorrow (Thursday) morning at the Hiatt home at 10 o'clock, as two brothers of the deceased are on their way from New York. A son arrived yesterday from Davenport. Burial will be in Winterset cemetery.
