After a short illness of a month's duration, Alfred Higgs passed away at his home on July 14, 1921, at the age of 74 years and 23 days.
The subject of this sketch was born in England June 21, 1847, coming to this country at the age of five, with his father and mother, John and Mary Higgs. On March 30, 1873, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Farris, who still survives him. No children came to bless this union.
Out of a large family of eleven, only four brothers and sisters remain: Henry, of Oklahoma; Mrs. Parker, of Washington; Mrs. Worthey of Alberta, and Charles of California. Owing to poor health, none were able to be present at the funeral.
Although Mr. Higgs' illness was not realized until recently that it was of such a serious nature, he bore it all cheerfully and smiling until the end. For many years he had been a progressive and industrious farmer in the neighborhood in which he has spent so many years. Being of a jolly and sociable nature he will be greatly missed by all. We feel confident that we are voicing the wish of the entire community in extending the heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved wife.
