Mrs. Erma Slone, most of whose life was spent in the Osceola and Truro communities, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 1949, at the Carter Nursing home in Winterset. She was 76 years of age, and had been here for a few months preceding her death.
Mrs. Slone was the former Erma M. Short, daughter of Thomas and Susan Short, and was born June 13, 1872, near Indianola. As a girl she moved with her parents to Clarke county, near Osceola.
She was married Nov. 21, 1900 to DeLoss Slone. They were the parents of four sons and a daughter. Except for residence near Truro from 1920 to 1932, her life was spent near Osceola. Her husband died in 1944.
Surviving are the five children, Hale Sone of Portland, Ore., Olin Slone of Des Moines, Mrs. Lorna Smith of Macksburg, Lloyd Slone of Fulda, Minn., and Diamond Slone of Topang, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Laura Simmer of Cornell, Wisc.
Funeral services were held at Osceola Jan. 23 in charge of the Rev. John Latta. Burial was made in the Maple Hill cemetery there.
