The Winterset Madisonian
Winterset, Iowa
Wednesday, June 8, 1921Death of MRS. A. M. BENGE
Eudora Preble was born in Warren County, Indiana, 78 years ago, or in 1842. In 1856 she removed to Iowa with her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Adkison, and has made her home in Winterset continuously for the past 42 years living the entire time in the home where she died June 2, 1921.
She was united in marriage to A. M. Benge in 1866, to which union two sons were born: Warren P., of this city; and Bertrand Preble of Grand Junction, Colo. They together with 10 grandchildren survive her. Her husband passed away three years ago. Besides these, of her immediate relatives, there is one sister, Miss Orpha Adkison of this city. She had one brother, A. H. Adkison, deceased.
She united with the Christian church in early life, and has been identified with the local congregation for many years. In this relation she has been faithful and true to her convictions, ever holding to the Son of God for ultimate salvation. This faith and loyalty did not lessen, even when her health began to fail a year ago. Confined to her home, she was still in heart, loyal and true.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon from the First Christian church, N. C. Carpenter of the Church of Christ, officiating, assisted by Geo. D. Rogers of the Baptist church. Burial was in the Rock City cemetery.
