ANNA DUNCAN TEMPLEMAN

Mrs. Anna Duncan Templeman was born Oct. 29, 1841, near Lafayette, Ind. She came west with her parents when about 11 years of age, settling near Winterset. Here she grew to womanhood receiving most of her education in the Winterset schools. She went to what was then known as the old stone school house. She became a teacher and taught in the early sixties.

She was married Dec, 28, 1867 to Edward W. Templeman of Co. D, 23d Missouri, moving near Storm Lake, where they homesteaded a farm and lived a short time, moving near Adel and living there a number of years, moving to Madison county in 1894 and to Winterset in 1901, where she resided until the death of husband, Oct. 24, 1910. Her health failing, she and her daughter, Ida, moved to North Dakota, where she has since made her home with her son Frank.

Early in life she was converted and united with the Methodist church. She was a member of the Madison County Holiness Association until her removal from Winterset. She was a life member of both the Home and Foreign Women's Missionary societies of the Methodist church. After going to North Dakota, she becamae a member of the Nazarene church at Sawyer.

She departed this life on Monday, March 28th, 1921, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 29 days. She leaves to mourn her death, Ida and Frank, with whom she lived; and Harry, all of Sawyer, N.D.; Alva of Velva, N.D. and Ed of Marve, Mont. Also eight grandchildren, four sisters, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Nazarene church at Sawyer, after which the remains were brought to Winterset, accomanied by the youngest son, Harry. Short services were held at the Ramsey undertaking parlors by Rev. Jackson Giddens and the remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
