MRS. JACOB CLEVINGER

Phoebe Ruth Ross was born to David and Rosilla Ross March 30, 1832, in Bradford county, Pennsylvania and departed from this life March 9, 1921 at Macksburg, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 9 days.

When 19 years of age, she was married to James Robinson. To this union, five children were born, of whom two are still living: David A. Robinson of Des Moines and Marquis J. Robinson of Council Bluffs. She was left a widow at the end of ten years with five children, the youngest being two weeks old.

About three years later, she married Andrew P. Karr. To this union, seven children were born, two of whom are still living: Mrs. R A. Graham of Ramaie, Colo., and Mrs. W. B. Robbins of Coldwater, Kans. She was again left a widow, Mr. Karr having passed away Feb. 28, 1879.

On Aug. 23, 1883 she was married to Jacob Clevinger, who departed this life May 30, 1904. There remain to mourn her loss, four children, 32 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren and a host of friends.

When 13 years of age, she was converted at a Methodist camp meeting. In her early married life she united with the Christian church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. Her last words were: "Jesus is all the world to me." This song, with "Rock of Ages" she sang often during her last illness.

Her life was one of service and self-sacrifice, and she was a devoted and loving companion and mother. Her loving care and devotion to her family and loved ones wil be a lifelong benediction and truly it can be said of her: "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed."
