Juanita May Brobst, 79, of Creston, formerly of Lorimor, died April 24, 2006 at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at Lorimor Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lorimor Cemetery. Open visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mrs. Brobst, daughter of Cleo Grace (Kress) and Earl Jackson, was born July 4, 1926, in Omaha, Neb. She was educated in country schools at Fontanelle and Peru and North High School in Des Moines. Later, she obtained certification as a nurse’s assistant and medical aid. She worked for “Look” magazine for a brief time.

On Nov. 4, 1946, she married Walter Lee Brobst in Hiawatha, Kan. They lived in the Winterset and Earlham areas before moving to Lorimor in 1952. She was a homemaker and mother. Later, she worked at North and South Care Centers in Winterset as a nurse’s aid and medical aid.

Survivors include four sons, Tyler Lee (wife Marilyn) Brobst of Murray, David Allen (wife Carol) Brobst of Lorimor, Dennis Lee (wife Vicky) Brobst of Des Moines and Don Wayne (wife Nanett) Brobst of Tucson Ariz; three daughters, Joyce Joann Rasmussen of Lincoln, Neb., Barbara Jean (husband Ron) Thompson of Elberon and Nancy (husband Jerry) Richards of Creston; two sisters, Opal Brooks of Des Moines and Jeanette Hassis of Lorimor; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter; two brothers, Robert and Johnny; sister Emma Kress; one grandchild Gerald Richards and one step-grandchild Teri Lynn Adams Brobst.
