Obituaries – Husband and Wife

Simeon Alger was born in Plymouth county, Massachusetts, April 27th, 1816; was married to Mary A. Howard in 1838. To this union were born five daughters, three of whom are still living. In 1853 they moved to Iowa.

Feeling called to preach, he entered the Iowa Conference, of the M. E. church in 1854, and traveled as an itinerant preacher. He assumed a local relation and in 1868 moved to Madison county, Iowa, where the remainder of his days were spent. He passed peacefully away April 9th, 1894, while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Mercer, in Carson, Iowa.

Note: Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
