A. M. Rutledge, commonly known as “Arch” Rutledge, an old resident of Douglas township, died quite suddenly last Monday at the home of his son-in-law, Wm. Chase. He was taken ill Sunday night, and Dr. D. D. Davisson was summoned, who found the patient in a state of collapse, suffering apparently from paralysis or heart failure. He lived until about noon the next day.
Mr. Rutledge came to Douglas township about thirty years ago, and has lived there most of the time since, except a few years spent in Nebraska. He was a widower, and leaves a number of grown up children.
The funeral took place Tuesday, the body being interred in the Winterset cemetery.
