Antipas Simpson, son of Benjamin and Susan Simpson, was born near Elkhart, in Elkhart county, Indiana, Dec. 27, 1830 and departed this life Jan 5, 1921, aged 90 years and 9 days.
He came with his parents to Iowa in 1856 and settled on a farm in Marion county. On Jan. 1, 1860, he was united in marriage to Miss Harriett Dunaway of the same county, and who survives him. To this union were born nine children, all living and present, except one, who passed away in 1900.
The surviving children are: Lydia Rhone of Barney, Robert of Cour de Alene, Idaho; William of Churchville, John of Lorimor, Hattie Keyes, of Bozeman, Mont.; Mary Waugh, Elias and Tom of Barney.
Mr. Simpson was one of the oldest settlers of this county, coming here in 1868 from Marion county and settling on a farm near Barney, where he has lived for almost 53 years.
He leaves to mourn his loss, besides the aged wife and nine children, twenty-six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the church on Saturday at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Gott of Cooper, Iowa. Interment was made in the Barney cemetery.
