HANNAH M. ALLEN

Hannah M. Bryan was born in Scott county, Illinois, January 20, 1844. Removed with her parents to Warren county, Iowa, 1853 and joined the Methodist church at the age of 12 years and has lived a constant christian life until death called her home July 31, 1903.

She married Thomas F. Hedrick March 10, 1859. Her husband dying December 21, 1892. She was left a widow until Nov. 25, 1896. She was married to Wm. B. Allen at Indianola, Iowa, and removed to Madison county.

Mother Allen was a kind and loving mother, affectionate companion and as such will be greatly missed in the home.

This community was pained to learn of the death of Mrs. William Allen, on the morning of the 30th. She had been sick but a short time. Her home was near Elm Grove.

E. P. Lewis, the undertaker, accompanied the remains of Mrs. Wm. Allen, who died on July 30th, to Indianola, where she was laid to rest on August 2.

John Hedrick was called to Peru, Madison county last Friday by the death of his mother, Mrs. W. B. Allen. Her death was sudden, heart failure being the cause. Mrs. Allen had been in her usual health during the day and had eaten hearty before retiring. About 3 a.m. she passed away.

The funeral occurred here Sunday at 4 p.m. Short services being held at the home in Peru and also at the cemetery.

At the time of her death her husband was in very poor health and unable to attend the funeral. The children of the deceased are well known in Indianola and have the sympathy of our people.

Hannah M. Bryan was born in Scott county, Illinois, January 20, 1944. She removed with her parents to Warren county, Iowa, in 1853, and joined the Methodist church at the age of twelve years, and has lived a consistent Christian life until death called her home July 31, 1903.

She was married to Thomas F. Hedrick, March 10, 1859. To this union were born eight children, two boys and six girls, of which all are living except one daughter Rosa who died July 25th, 1899. Her husband died December 21, 1892, she was left a widow until Nov. 25, 1896, when she was married to Wm. Allen at Indianola, Iowa, at which time she and the two youngest daughters removed with him to Madison county, where they lived until called to that rest which remaineth for all those who trust in him, who doeth all things for the best. Mother Allen was a kind and loving mother, affectionate companion, and as such will be greatly missed in the home.
