Former Winterset Man Had Been With United Firm For 32 Years
Clyde Adams, a native of Winterset, and a former business man in this community, died Saturday Dec. 31 at Creston where he had lived for 37 years. He was 74 years of age, and had been in failing health for the last two years.
Mr. Adams was born in Winterset Nov. 24, 1892, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Buell Adams. He was married at Macksburg Dec. 25, 1917 to Lela Rogers.
As a young man he was associated with the ownership and operation of the Adams Brothers grocery in Winterset. He later joined the United Grocery organization with which he was associated for 32 years, two years of which was spent in Winterset and 30 years in Creston.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lela Adams; a son, Carl Adams and two daughters, Mrs. Vincent McCann and Mrs. Wayne Snodgrass all of Creston; two brothers, Glen Adams of Red Oak and Robert Adams of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Glen Wiley of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday from the First Christian church in Creston, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Trazerce Harrison. Burial was made in the Graceland cemetery at Creston.
