BEATRICE CARMICHAEL DIED HERE TUESDAY

Long-Time Guthrie Center Resident Was 75 Years Of Age

Mrs. Beatrice Carmichael, a resident of Guthrie Center, most of her life, died this Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 75 years of age.

Mrs. Carmichael had been a resident of this community the last four and a half years. She was the former Beatrice Aldrich, daughter of L. L. and Mary Jane Flood Aldrich, and was born at Red Oak March 7, 1891. She was married at Guthrie Center in 1914 to William Carmichael who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Christian church at Guthrie Center and of the Rebekah lodge and the American Legion auxiliary there.

One of her sons, John L. Carmichael was killed in action while serving in the U. S. armed forces during World War II.

Surviving are four children, Vern R. Carmichael of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. Marie Abrahams of Winterset, Mrs. Neil Gillespie of Lancaster, Calif., and Tom Carmichael of Guthrie Center; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

The body will be at the Collins Funeral home in Winterset this Thursday for visitation by friends. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Christian church in Guthrie Center, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Guthrie Center cemetery.
