The body of Cpl. Albert F. Harper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Harper of Peru, who was killed in action in France during the recent war, was interred at Perry recently. Graveside services with military ritual, were held at the Maple Hill cemetery there.
Corporal Harper was born in Boone county, and spent his childhood west of Perry, attending the Perry schools. He graduated from high school at Norwalk.
He entered service Jan. 7, 1942, and went overseas with a tank battalion of the 12th Armored division. He met his death during one of the major offensive battles of the western front, beginning Jan. 16, 1945 and lasting five days.
