A very sad death occurred in our midst at 7:30 Sunday evening. Mr. G. H. Butts was the victim being stricken down in his feed lot where he was found a short time afterwards by Mr. Fletch Porter. He was in his usual health and went to draw some water for his horses, and when found was lying on the platform of the well quite dead. He was about 65 or 66 years old, and physicians pronounce the cause of his sudden death as heart failure. The stricken family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community to a soul who had nothing but good words for Mr. Butts.
The funeral services were held at the church here at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, after which the remains were taken to Des Moines for interment. Rev. Williams officiated at the church, where an impressive sermon was delivered from the text, “And whatsoever I say unto you, I say unto all. Watch.” How much better it would be could we all say, “I am watching.”
