A Sad Death

Roscoe, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Stone, died after a very short illness from brain fever, at the family home at the City Hotel, in this city, Monday afternoon, June 12, at about two o’clock. He was not particularly robust child, but yet had not had much sickness. He was apparently well on Saturday. On Sunday he began to be sick, but was not thought to be seriously so, till Monday morning or forenoon, he suddenly became worse, and passed into a succession of convulsions. The physicians succeeded in quieting him by means of opiates, but he sank rapidly and at two o’clock passed away.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S. L. Lindsay, and were largely attended. The kindest sympathy of many friends goes out to the bereaved parents, who are thus called upon to pass through their first great sorrow.

Since the foregoing was written, it has been learned that the little fellow played at Rees's blacksmith shop on Saturday and fell from the high steps at the door and struck on his head. On going home he complained of his head hurting him. This accident was doubtless the cause of the subsequent death.
