Obituary

Word has been received of the death on the 17th inst., at Alton, O., of Mrs. Etta Dougherty, nee Bishop, formerly of Walnut township, in this county. She had been sick since last October, with a complication of grippe, rheumatism and pneumonia.

Mrs. Daugherty will be well remembered by a host of warm friends in Madison county. She leaves a husband and young daughter. Her immediate family relatives are Mrs. Z. S. Read and Mrs. J. J. Spurgin, of Winterset, Mrs. J. M. Pindell, of Macksubrg, and Mrs. Travis, sisters, and Lemuel and Martin Bishop, of Farragut, Iowa, brothers. Her father met death in the army and her mother died at the family homestead about fifteen years ago.

Mrs. Dougherty became a teacher in the public schools at seventeen years of age, and followed that occupation till about five years ago, when she was married. At the time of her death she was thirty-three years of age.
