Carl Duane Beedle, Martensdale

Services for Duane Beedle, 53 of rural Martensdale, were held Monday July 6 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Martensdale. Mr. Beedle died July 2 as a result of stab wounds, apparently inflicted by his son, according to authorities. Burial was at Wallace Cemetery at Wick near his home.

Mr. Beedle was born July 9, 1933 at Winterset, the son of John and Hazel M. (Beaman) Beedle. He was married November 4, 1951 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Winterset to Katherine Rhoades who survives him.

He was employed by Monarch Cement Co. in Des Moines and had retired in 1984 after 30 years. He owned and operated Beedle Auto Body Shop at his home near Martensdale. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Martensdale.

Survivors include his wife Katherine; a daughter, Kathy Kay Harlean of Indianola; grandchildren, Amy Beedle of Indianola, Chris and Daniel Harlean of Indianola; two sisters, Mary Beard of Winterset and Beulah Howell of rural Winterset. He was preceded in death by his parents.

MARTENSDALE, IA. — C. Duane Beedle, 53, of Martensdale died of stab wounds Thursday at Charter Community Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church here. Burial will be in Wallace Cemetery in Wick.

Mr. Beedle was born in Winterset and lived in Martensdale for 25 years. He had retired in 1984 from the Monarch Cement Co., in Des Moines. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Martensdale.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine; a son, David of Martensdale; a daughter, Katherine Harban of Indianola; two sisters, Mary Beard of Winterset and Beulah Howell of De Soto; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
