Eva Pierce, the 15-year-old daughter of Alfred Pierce, of Jefferson township, died Tuesday of diphtheria, and on the evening of the same day another child of the same family was sick with the disease.

Note: Burial was made in the Union Chapel-Jefferson cemetery.
