Obituary

On Monday, December 5th, George W. Abbott sank peacefully to rest. In the autumn of 1891 he came from Ohio to this county to be near his children. He was taken very sick shortly after his arrival here, and for a long time his life was despaired of, but with the return of warm weather he became---- and we hoped that many years were left for him on earth but with the approach of winter, the once strong man, weighed down with great--- by the ravages of disease, took a relapse, after a few days of intense suffering the messenger of death----- we saw not the uplifted blade, nor heard the blow that set his spirit free. But the messenger paused to erase all marks of suffering, and leave in the calm peaceful face the reflected light of glory. He was soothed and sustained by an unfaltering trust in Christ, and approached his grave like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams.

Mr. Abbott was a native of Ohio, and was about 77 years of age. When about twenty-one years of age, he was married to Malinda Pinnell, his sorrowful survivor. Three of his children, J. S. and C. P. Abbott and Mrs. Jacobs, are well known to most of our people. At the request of these and the bereaved wife, the writer conveys their thanks to the friends who extended kindly aid in affliction. By the implied wish of the friends, we extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved.

J. E. Beard.

Note: Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
