Martha Orlena Clark, was born in Madison county, Iowa, August 3, 1854, and died at her home in Winterset, Iowa, October 2, 1935, aged 81 years, one month and 29 days.
She was the youngest and only surviving child of Caleb and Ruth Clark. On April 14, 1871, she was united in marriage to Elihu Rogers who preceded her in death, March 9, 1913.
To this union was born three sons and four daughters. On May 6, 1915, she was united in marriage to David B. Ballard who preceded her in death February 3, 1920.
She joined the Church of Christ when a child and continued in that faith until her decease.
Among those who survive to mourn her loss are her children, Roy Rogers of Macksburg, Sam Rogers and Rose Rogers of Winterset, Mrs. Mabel Smith and Mrs. Ruth Christensen of Winterset. Mrs. Eva Likens and infant daughter Laura, having preceded her in death. Twenty six grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services conducted from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 2:00 o’clock Friday, October 4th conducted by Rev. H. L. Olmstead pastor of the Church of Christ.
