Merle Pottorff, 65, of Truro died Jan. 9, 2008, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset. Visitation will be from 4–6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. Inurnment of his cremains will take place at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials will be directed to the family for future designation.
Merle Pottorff was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Leon to Earl and Orpha (Stubbs) Pottorff and graduated from Creston High School. His marriage to Patricia Diane Rudolf took place June 30, 1991, in Truro. A resident of Truro for the past 17 years, Merle was a retired mechanical engineering specialist with Osceola Foods in Osceola. He also worked at Armstrong-Pirelli Tire in Des Moines and drove for Cooper Trucks in Winterset. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Truro; one son, Merle Allen Pottorff of Clive; two daughters, Judi Pottorff of Kelley and Michele Staker of Des Moines; one stepson, Todd Brown of Creston; one stepdaughter, Missy McKean of Adel; three brothers, Earl Pottorff of Columbia, S.C., Joel Pottorff of St. Charles and William Hackley of DeSoto; two sisters, Paula “Pepper” Glade of Mineola and Gail Young of Pacific Junction; and 10 grandchildren.
