Harold "Pete" Stanley, 74, of Casey died March 19, 2005, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines from complications of kidney disease.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, March 23) at the Dexter United Methodist Church with Pastors Kirk Seagren and Ken Ahntholz officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.

Pete Stanley was born Sept. 18, 1930, to George and Myrtle (Hall) Stanley of Stuart. He attended country school in Guthrie county, graduating from Stuart High School in 1947. On June 21, 1951, he married Joyce Nelson. Pete worked for Firestone Tire & Rubber, retiring after 33 years of service. Following retirement, he mowed the Dexter, Earlham and Penn Center cemeteries.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald, and a sister, Mary.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Casey; two sons, Steve Stanley of Earlham and George Stanley of Redfield; three daughters, Diane Crawford of Redfield, Sheri Harkins of Van Meter and Peg Poston of Johnston; six sisters, Opal Brink and Esther Lister, both of Dexter, Mildred LeMarr and Marjorie Speedling, both of Stuart, Louise Kading of Arizona and Ruby Hodge of Des Moines; and 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
