August 2006Funeral services were held for Vera Naomi Blomquist of Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, Iowa. Pastor Charlie Thompson officiated.
Robert Lawson was the organist. Congregational Hymn was "How Great Thou Art".
Pallbearers were Tim Rogers, Matt Rogers, Doyce Blomquist, Francis Blomquist, Lloyd Blomquist, David Luckenbill.
Vera Naomi Blomquist was born the daughter of Alfred and Clara Scott Lee on July 25, 1911 in Chamberlain, South Dakota and died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on August 16, 2006 at the age of 95 years, and 22 days.
Vera graduated from Stuart High School in 1930 and became a life-long farm wife and homemaker. Vera and Justin Blomquist were married on March 11, 1932 in Dexter, Iowa. This union was blessed with a daughter Sandra. After farming south of Dexter for 47 years Vera and Justin retired to their home in Stuart where Vera would live until a few months ago. Justin died in December of 1995.
Vera was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, the DT Club of Dexter, the Dexter Golden Agers, and the Methodist Women's Society. She became interested in genealogy in the past few years and began tracing her family tree. Vera loved to play dominoes with the ladies at club.
Vera is survived by her daughter Sandra Rogers and husband Dennis of Dexter; grandchildren Timothy Rogers and wife LaDean of Redfield; Dawn Rogers of Urbandale; and Matthew Rogers of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren Justin, Dion and Sonja Rogers of Redfield.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Justin, sister Pearl Albery, and brothers Thomas and Charles Lee.
Interment was held in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Iowa. Kuhn Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
