ALFRED M. PORTER, Peru Resident Dies 1t 79 Years

Alfred M. Porter of Peru, a well-known Madison county resident for many years, died last Thursday, Aug 27, 1964, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Porter was a retired railroad worker. He was born at Keystone, Mo., on April 23, 1885, a son of James and Frances (Mathorn) Porter. He lived in Des Moines for 28 years before coming to Madison county.

He was married at Peru on May 4, 1954, to Elsie Baker, who survives him. He aso leaves a brother, Walter Porter of Peru, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Jones of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Peru Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. James B. Nicholson. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
