CHARLES SWARTZ KILLED ON HI-WAY

Dies in Car Accident near Houston, Mo., While Visiting Relatives

Charles Swartz of Winterset, father of four young children, was killed last Thursday in an automobile accident at Houston, Mo. where he and his family had gone to spend the holidays with his wife's parents.

The car Swartz was driving overturned on the highway. It was reported here that the steering mechanism failed. His brother-in-law who was riding with him, was critically injured.

Mr. Swartz was 38 years of age and had lived in Winterset since 1941 and was employed here by the Kaser Construction company. He had been employed by that same firm at Adel before coming to Winterset.

In addition to his wife and the four children of Winterset, he leaves his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Carl Hanson and Mrs. Wilbur Brown, all of Dallas Center and a brother, Robert Swartz of Oskaloosa.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Christian church at Adel, with burial in the cemetery there.
