Wednesday, January 28, 1942HELD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR P. H. MITCHELL
DeSoto-(Special)-Jan. 24-Funeral services for P. H. Mitchell, prominent farmer, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 17th were held the following Monday afternoon at the DeSoto Methodist church in charge of the Rev. W. L. Hawn. Casketbearers were Mr. Mitchell's nephews, Jim, John and Billy Mitchell, George Trindle, Lloyd Roland and Ken Carpenter. Interment was made in the Oakland cemetery south of DeSoto. A large crowd of relatives and friends attended the last rites.
Perry Hollen Mitchell was born in Madison county, Iowa on Nov. 29th, 1870. He departed from our midst on Jan. 17, 1942, at his home in Dallas county where he had lived the greater part of his life. He was the oldest of ten children, born to a father and mother of a generation of the past. seven of those children survive, all honored and respected citizens of their communities.
He was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed his association among men. He was a member of the Methodist church which he attended when his health would permit.
He married Lou Ida Harper, daughter of another pioneer family, who survives.
