Former Earlham Girl Passes On

Miss Viola Lee Whose Girlhood Years Were Spent Here, Dies at Adel Wednesday

Viola, daughter of Samuel and Mary C. Lee, was born in Madison County, Iowa, December 21, 1872 and died at her home in Adel, Iowa, June 23, 1920, being 47 years, 6 months and 2 days old.

In early life she became a member of the Presbyterian church at Earlham, Iowa and a few years ago, shortly after moving to Adel, she placed her membership in the Presbyterian Church there and remained a faithful member thereof until her death. She was a constant worker in the church, especially in the Sunday School, loving to teach the word of her Master to the little ones. Her life was consecrated to God and her family. Only those who were with her through the last few months of life know how cheerfully and patiently she awaited the call of her Master whom she loved so well and accepting cheerfully the long siege of her sickness preceding her death by praying "Thy will be done."

Her father preceded her to the better land about four years ago. She leaves to mourn their loss her mother, Mary C. Lee of Adel, two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Wright of Adel and Mrs. Evert McKibben of Earlham, two brothers, Geo. W. of Adel and Edwin V. of Cedar Rapids; two nieces and a nephew to whom she gave a mother's love and care from a tiny babe on until her health would not permit. She also leaves a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Short services were held at her late home at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, June 24, followed by services at the McKibben Cemetery, where she was laid to rest by the side of her father. Services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Howard, pastor of the Earlham Presbyterian Church.
