ANNA SWARTS COAKLEY

Anna M. Swarts was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, August 9, 1852 and died at her late home in Howard, Kans., Jan, 25, 1919, aged 65 years, 5 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage to John Kirkland in 1868 at Winterset, Iowa, where they lived until about 11 years ago.

Mrs. Kirkland moved to Colorado about a year after Mr. Kirkland's death. The following members of her family, with I. W. Coakley to whom she was married in 1912 are left to mourn her departure: Mrs. C. E. Rippey, Aztec, N.M.; Mrs. Minnie Coakley, Fowler, Colo.; Mrs. C. W. Callison, Howard, Kans.; Mrs. J. L. Lewis, Colorado Springs, Colo.; F. M. Kirkland, Flora Vista, N.M.; also eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister and a host of friends.

Mrs. Coakley became a member of the Baptist church 25 years ago, which faith she kept, for she said "peace was made with God". Thus a life all too brief has gone from our midst, but the memory thereof will be precious to those who knew her best through all the years.

Brief services were conducted from the home in Howard Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. by Rev. Crane, pastor of the M. E. church. The funeral services proper were held at the Baptist church in Winterset and interment made in Winterset cemetery.
