At St. John's hospital in Fargo on January 22, 1919, came the call from Above to Henry David Mairs and his soul fled to the Great Beyond whence no traveller ever returns.
Death followed an operation which seemed successful for a time but he did not have the strength to continue the fight for life.
Henry Mairs was born Aug. 31, 1885 at York, N.Y. In 1887 he moved with his parents to Winterset, Iowa, where he resided until March, 1909 when he came to North Dakota to live.
At the age of nine years, he united with the Presbyterian church and was ever a faithful member of this church.
The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church with Rev. Poston officiating and interment was made in Oakwood cemetery.
The casket was laden with beautiful floral pieces, which were tokens of love and esteem and showed the regard his many friends had for him.
He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Mairs, two brothers, Ray and Clarence; two sisters, Gertrude and Mrs. Mary Schoonover and an aunt, Miss Mary Boyd.
