Mrs. William D. Fisher

Mary Elizabeth White, youngest child of Michael and Mary White was born near Zanesville, Ohio, May 21, 1847 and departed this life at her home in DeSoto, Iowa, May 25, 1928 being 81 years and 4 days old.

On December 14, 1875 she was united in marriage to William D. Fisher of Winterset, and to this union were born three children, Mrs. Ella Brand of Indianola; Mrs. Flo Scott of Ft. Dodge, and Kate Fisher, who preceded her in death in January 1927. She came to Iowa with her parents when 17 years old and located on a farm south of the Fairview church. She united with the Methodist church in Ohio when a girl. The Fairview Methodist church was organized in her father's log cabin. She continued a faithful member of the Methodist church to the time of her death. They moved to De Soto in 1891, when Mr. Fisher conducted a general store. He passed away on April 7, 1916 at the age of 65 years.

She is the last of a family of nine children and all her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law have preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted from her home in De Soto Sunday afternoon, May 27, by the pastor of the De Soto Methodist church, Rev. James Walls, assisted by Rev. Julius G. Bourne. Interment was in the De Soto cemetery.
