County and City

Last Friday brought the news of two sad deaths in the neighborhood of Jackson and the west part of Douglas townships. One, that of Miss Ora, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Comp. Her sickness was of short duration, and was a severe shock to family and friends, who are entitled to the sympathy of their acquaintances, and which they will surely receive.

At Rest

Ora I. Comp, oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Comp, was born in Madison county, Iowa, on March 9th, 1872 and died at her home September 18th, 1891.

The funeral services were held at her home September 19th by Rev. Henry Davis, of the Christian church, assisted by Rev. Sawhill, of the U. P. Church. It would be difficult for us to give an adequate sense of the loss sustained by the family of Mr. and Mrs. Comp in the death of their daughter, Ora.

She was kind and affectionate, always thoughtful for the welfare of others, and even during her last illness she seemed to forget herself in her anxiety for the recovery of her brother, Willie, who was lying very low this time.

Her death was very sudden and a severe shock to a large circle of young friends, who mourn her loss. But alas, death is snatched from us this noble young friend we loved and cherished. May we need the warning: The old must die, the young may die, and when the Master calls us may we be prepared to die in the arms of a loving Savior.
