Bertha May Clark

Bertha May Paullin Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Paullin of Winterset, was born April 24th, 1881, in Madison County and with the exception of two and one-half years, spent her entire life in and about Winterset.

At the early age of 13 years, she united with the Fairview Methodist church, living a true consistent Christian the remainder of her life.

She was married to Alvin R. Clark of Winterset, February 21st, 1900, and to them was born one daughter, Helen.

Mrs. Clark was a great lover of her home, giving of her best to her loved ones. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, a kind neighbor, and a true friend.

Mrs. Clark was always interested in the activities of the community and as far as her health permitted was active in her neighborhood affairs. It was a great pleasure to her to attend church services and she went regularly until physically unable to do so.

At the age of 44 years, 11 months and 25 days after four and one-half months of intense suffering which she bore uncomplainingly and with great patience, God called her to her heavenly mansion, which He had already prepared for her.

Mrs. Clark passed away at her home in Scott township at an early hour Sunday morning, leaving a kind husband; an affectional daughter, Mrs. Helen Deardorff; her aged parents; two sisters, Mrs. M.J. Orr and Mrs. Chas. McDonald, both of Madison county; three brothers, L.E. of Booneville, Iowa, E.H. of Madison county, and R.A. Paullin of Wichita, Kansas; also many other relatives and loving friends.

She will ever be remembered for her loving disposition and her kindness to all.
