Death of Private THOMAS CALLISON

The death of Thomas Callison of Macksburg, appeared on the casualty list of September as reported by the Canadian forces.

Relatives in Macksburg have received information showing that Thomas Callison died of wounds received on Sept. 6, 1918. Lt. C. H. Barnes, commanding Co. Co. 75th Battalion, writes that on Sept. 2, during the attack on the Drocourt-Queant line, Callison was seriously wounded by a machine gun bulet. He was carried to the first aid post, then on to the casualty clearing station, but all efforts were to no avail, and he passed away Sept. 6. Accounts of this big Canadian-British drive will be recalled as a complete victory by Haig's army, when the Germans retreated with al speed and the allies broke through the Hindenburg line.

Private Callison was a brother of John D. Callison of Macksburg, and made his home for awhile in that place, where he was well known.
