Mrs. D. Applegate, of Douglas township, a quite old lady, died at her home about ten days ago. Her sickness was of short duration, and her death was a sudden blow to the family, coming so soon after that of the husband and father, David Applegate. Mrs. Applegate was an exemplary Christian woman, a devoted wife, and a kind, indulgent mother, and one whose death is not only a sad bereavement to family and relatives, but a severe loss to the community in which she lived. Two of her brothers, and Dr. Applegate and wife, were present at her death and burial.
