We have learned of the death in Douglas county, Kansas of Mr. Absolam McKenzie, one of the early settlers of Madison county. He came here in 1847 and did some of the first work in the opening of lands for cultivation, settling on the McKnight farm, in Scott township, He also helped to lay out the town of Winterset.
