FATAL ACCIDENT

One Death and Almost an Other from an Overturned Vehicle

Last Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gillespie started to go in some sort of a light wagon or buggy to visit Mrs. Gillespie’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Green, in Adair county. They had with them their child, a baby about six months old. While going down hill out in Webster township, the tongue of the wagon came down, and the vehicle ran on the horses, causing them to run. The wagon was soon overturned, and all the occupants thrown out. The baby was thrown some fifteen feet, and when found was dead. Mrs. Gillespie was severely injured, being unconscious of the real state of affairs for several days. Mr. Gillespie was but slightly injured.

It was one of the most distressing accidents that have happened in Madison county for many a day. The sympathy of many friends will go out towards the afflicted parents.
