Lorraine Madolyn Mills Belden, 94, passed away of natural causes May 15, 2007 at the Community Care Center in Stuart. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart. Interment will be in South Oak Grove Cemetery at Stuart.

Lorraine was born May 6, 1913 to Claude Mills and Julia Johnson Mills in Winterset, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School and attended beauty school in Des Moines. She worked as a beautician in Stuart for a number of years.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Carl H. Belden January 18, 1936 in Council Bluffs at which time they moved to the Belden family farm south of Stuart. Four sons blessed this union: Richard, Robert, John and James. In addition to farming Carl and Lorraine owned and operated Belden Insurance Agency from 1963 to 1978. They retired to their home in Stuart in 1979.

Lorraine was a member of the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, PEO Chapter BQ, a 50 year member of Eastern Star and Farm Bureau. She was an excellent cook and provided meals for many family get-togethers. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, needlework and quilting.

Those left to celebrate her life include her sons: Richard and his wife, Wanda of Manchester, IA; Robert and his wife, Carolyn of St. Louis, MO; John and his wife, Dolores of Castle Rock, CO; James and his wife, Diane of Stuart, seven grandchildren: Jeff(Tammi) Belden, Julie Belden, Jim (Trevelle) Belden, Jodine Belden, Chris (Patrick) Belden, Michelle (Jory) Hunerdosse, Bryan (Jenyse) Belden, ten great-children; sister-in-law, Stephanie Mills of West Des Moines, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, her brother, John Mills and a granddaughter, Anne Marie Belden.
