DEATH OF MRS. J. L. BROWNE

After a long, hard illness, the end came last Sat. morning and Mrs. Hattie M. Browne, nee Lindsay, wife of J. L. Browne gave up this life for a higher existence. She had been lingering for some time at the point of death. The disease with which she died was consumption, which had prayed upon her system for about two years. She had many warm friends at St. Charles as also has her bereaved husband and they all feel deeply touched at the news of her death.

Her life was an exemplary one and the influence of it will never lose its power over the husband and two little children left behind. Capt. Browne and wife and H. G. Stouffer and wife attended the funeral which occurred at Indianola on Tuesday at which place the remains were laid to rest by loving hands. Revs. Calhoun and McCarty of Indianola and Baldridge of St. Charles conducted the services in presence of a large audience.

IN MEMORIAM

Mrs. Hattie M. Lindsay Browne, daughter of S. B. and Maria Lindsay, was born near Summerset, Warren Co., Iowa, Aug. 20th, A.D. 1860.

At the early age of thirteen, she made a profession of faith in Christ by united with the United Presbyterian congregation at Indianola.

October 25th, 1882, she was married to J. L. Browne of St. Charles, Iowa and a son and daughter survive their union.

The deceased ever lived an exemplary Christian life, taking an active part in church work until prostrated by disease. Her death occurred at the residence of her father, Saturday, May 10th 1890.

Her testimony concerning her faith in Jesus Christ was clear and strong, even in the hour of death. Among her last words were, "Thy will be done,", "I'm so glad, "I have given up all to Jesus." Looking out toward the setting sun she said, "There shall be no night in Heaven. Truly, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
