Services for Frank Allen

A former assistant postmaster in Winterset for 35 years, Frank Elmer Allen, 68, died Thursday, August 14, 1975 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was a resident of Madison County for his entire lifetime.

Mr. Allen was born May 21, 1907 in Madison County, the son of Elmer Allen and Mary Landers. His marriage to Oleta Turnquist took place on March 28, 1930 in Adel, Iowa.

A retired assistant postmaster, Mr. Allen was currently employed by the Reed Motor Company of Winterset as a salesman. He had served as acting postmaster in Winterset from February 4, 1966 to December 30, 1966.

Mr. Allen was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Winterset and is survived by his wife, Oleta, four children, Cleda Montgomery, Pomona, Calif., Bill Allen of Greeley, Colo., Shirley Young of Rifle, Colo., and John Allen of Des Moines, Iowa and also by 12 grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Mickey Allen and Charles Allen of Winterset. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Eliza, and two brothers, Fred and Hyram.

Funeral services for Frank Allen were conducted Saturday, August 16, 1975 at 2 p.m. from the First Christian Church of Winterset, the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur officiating. Burial was made at the North McDonald Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
