Mrs. F. D. Davenport

Mrs. F. D. Davenport, died Sunday evening, July 24th at her home on West Court Avenue, after an illness of over seven months. Mrs. Davenport, who was fifty-two years of age had always been in good health until last October. She became critically ill about Christmas time, and everything possible was done for her but it was apparently to no avail. She continued to suffer intensely, and became unconscious Sunday morning. She died about six o'clock that evening with an infection of the spine.

The deceased came to Winterset as the bride of Dr. F. D. Davenport, thirty years ago. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Prevost of Montreal, Canada. Her name then was Miss Marie Louise Prevost and she was educated in both an English and a French convent. She was graduated from the New England conservatory of music in Boston, Massachusetts, and was married at Fall River, Mass. to Dr. Davenport. After coming to Winterset, she continued her study of music and she took a great interest in the musical activities of Winterset, having had a talented voice. Mrs. Davenport made many friends in this community who deeply regret that she had to suffer so greatly, during the last months of her life.

She is survived by her husband and son Frank of Winterset and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Richardson of Napierville, Canada. The Reverend Luke Plunkett conducted funeral services at St. Joseph's Catholic church Tuesday, July 26th at 10 o'clock and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
