DEATH OF GAYLORD DABNEY

Prominent Farmer Succumbs After Brief Illness March 29

Gaylord H. Dabney of Douglas township, one of the country's prominent farmers for many years, died at the Winterset hospital March 29 after a brief illness.

Mr. Dabney was born April 23, 1875 in Douglas township. He was the son of John Wesley and Ellen A. Dabney and was the eldest of five children. In 1896 he married Mary Ida Huston of Lincoln township. They made their home in Lincoln township for five years, then returned to Douglas township where they have since made their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Dabney were the parents of nine children. The oldest two, Richard and Grace preceeded their father in death. The remaining relatives are Mrs. Dabney and seven children, Helen Bruce of Highland Park, Illinois, John W. Dabney of Telluride, Colorado, Lela Gregory of Pittsburgh, Pa., Vera Dabney of Pittsburgh, P., Doris Vincent of Colfax, Iowa, Alice Dabney of Chicago, Illinois and Charles Dabney of Winterset, who is a student at the University of Iowa. He leaves five grandchildren and four sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Methodist church in Winterset in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
