LAST RITES FOR ELI CRAVEN WED.

Came to Lincoln Township Sixty-Three Years Ago From North Carolina

Eli M. Craven, resident of the county for over sixty-three years, died Tuesday at his home west of Winterset, at the age of 86. He had been ill for some time.

He was born in North Carolina December 4, 1848 and came to Madison county when he was 23. His marriage to Elmira J. Kivett took place December 5, 1875. Four children were born to them, John Franklin Craven of Ames; Mrs. Lula Shackelford of Liberal, Kansas; Joseph Monroe Craven of Winterset; and Mrs. Elsie DeVault of Juneau, Alaska. He is survived by his wife, their four children, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. H. L. Olmstead in charge; burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Death of Eli M. Craven

Eli Marida Craven, a resident of Madison county since 1872, died at his home near Winterset on October 1, at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Craven was born December 4, 1848, in North Carolina. He came to Madison county in the spring of 1872. Here he was married, on December 5, 1875, to Elmira Kivett. They were the parents of four children.

Mr. Kivett united with the Christian church at a meeting held in the Drake school house in 1896.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by the four children, John Franklin Craven of Ames, Mrs. Lula Shackelford of Liberal, Kansas, Joseph Monroe Craven of Winterset, and Mrs. Elsie DeVault of Juneau, Alaska; in addition to 14 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.

Funeral services were held October 2 from the Church of Christ in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
