Vernon Martin of Davis City died Aug. 27 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 56.
Born on Sept. 26, 1928 in Monroe Township, Madison County, he was the son of Ernest and Mattie Schulz Martin. He married Goldie Becker in March of 1959.
He worked in the maintenance department at Lamoni High School and was also a farmer.
He is survived by his wife; one step-son, Douglas Martin and his wife, Kathy of Lamoni; four grandchildren; and one sister, Rena Turrentine of La Junta, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
