Mrs. Adeline (Adaline) Laidley Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Adeline Laidley, 88, former Madison county woman, were held in the West Star church May 14. The rites were conducted by the Rev. A. R. Weed, assisted by the Rev. L. G. Wolfe. Burial was made in the Elm Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Laidley died May 11 at the home of her son, Edmund Laidley, near Monteith. She spent many years of her life in the Worthington neighborhood and in Earlham. She was the wife of Charles Henry Laidley, and they were the parents of five children. They are Edmund Laidley of Monteith, James Laidley of Clifton, Colorado, Mrs. Catherine Harris of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Margaret Burns of Clifton, Colorado, and Thomas Laidley of Des Moines.

MRS. ADALINE LAIDLEY IS BURIED TUESDAY

Former Resident Died At Home Of Son Near Montieth Saturday.

Mrs. Adaline Laidley, 88, who formerly lived in the Worthington neighborhood and in Earlham for many years, died at the home of her son Edmund near Monteith, Iowa, Saturday, May 11. She had been ill but a short time.

The body was brought here and a service, conducted by Rev. A. R. Weed assisted by Rev. L. G. Wolfe, was held at the West Star church Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in Elm cemetery.

OBITUARY

Adaline Laidley, daughter of James W. and Jemima Wight Smoot was born December 2, 1846 and passed away at the home of her son Edmund near Monteith, Iowa, aged 88 years, five months, nine days.

She was married to Charles Henry Laidley September 7, 1864. To this union were born five children, Edmund, of Monteith; James of Clifton, Colo.; Mrs. Cathrine Harris of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Burns, Clifton, Colo.; and Thomas of Des Moines.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two grandchildren, and her husband who passed away January 2, 1917.

She is survived by five children, thirteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and two nephews and three nieces, also a host of other relatives and friends.
