PAULINE FIFE

Martha Pauline Fife was born in Martinsdale, Iowa to Grace (Nickolson) and Rufus Allen on December 15, 1916. She attended Simpson College in Indianola and earned her teaching degree from Drake University, graduating in August 1969.

Pauline married Eldon Marston Fife on December 27, 1937 in Milan, MO. Pauline and Eldon lived on the family farm in St. Charles until 1961 when they moved to Mineola to start her teaching job in Council Bluffs. She taught school for Lewis Central School Systems from 1961 to 1982. Pauline enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, baking, sewing and her love “of teaching young children.”

Pauline is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Raymond Nelson of Des Moines, Penny and Willie R. Brown of Grand Island, NE, and Patti and Robert Sieck of Council Bluffs; five sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Judy Fife of Urbandale, Eldon and Puring Fife of San Bernadino, CA, Mark and JoAnn Fife of Des Moines, Stephen and Julie Fife of Des Moines and Dennis and Cindy Fife of Plattsmouth, NE; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Paula, sister, granddaughter and great-grandson.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20 at Westover Funeral Home, with burial at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, IA. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
