JOHN J. THOMPSON TAKEN BY DEATH

Succumbs To Sudden Heart Attack Friday Morning. Funeral Held Sunday Afternoon.

John J. Thompson, well known local man, died at his home suddenly Friday morning, September 20, at 10 o’clock following a heart attack. Though Mr. Thompson had not been well for the past year he was able to continue his chosen work as a carpenter until his death. He was 57 years old.

John J. Thompson son of Nathan D. and Elizabeth A. Thompson was born April 8, 1878 and passed away at his home in Earlham September 20, 1935 at the age of 57 years, having lived in Earlham all his life.

On March 31, 1901 he was united in marriage to Lulu Belle Bechtel and to this union six children were born, Lyle of Stuart, Mrs. James Coleman of Ottumwa, Mrs. Clifton Hamilton of Earlham, Berniece, Robert and Hazel at home.

Mr. Thompson was a birthright member of the Friends church and a man of kindly personality, devoted to his family and his home. He was quiet but kind and thoughtful of those around him.

In his passing he leaves besides his wife and children, six grandchildren, an aged father of Waurika, Okla., one sister Mrs. W. A. Rausenberger of Waurika, three brothers, Bert and Charley of Waurika and Ed. of Earlham and other relatives and a host of friends. His mother preceded him in death in 1903.
