VIVIAN MARIE WILLIAMS, Indianola

"A school teacher, Vivian Eyerly, gave me a small book on wildflowers, and tattered as it is, I still refer to it. Hopefully, all children will have a Vivian Eyerly in their early life." Florence Thomas - Winterset country school student in 1930's Schoolteacher, registered nurse and beloved Mother, and grandmother, Vivian Eyerly Williams, 89, passed away, Saturday, November 17, 2007.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Pleasantville Church of Christ with burial following in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Vivian was born on November 18, 1917, near Winner, South Dakota on the homestead of her parents Loren and Emma (McComb) Eyerly, one of 6 children including Merwin, Carrol, Doris, Marjorie and Virginia. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1935 and subsequently worked at the Winterset Hospital and taught country school in order to earn enough money to attend nurses training in Des Moines. She graduated from the nursing school at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in 1944. Vivian also married Roger B. Williams on November 6, 1944. She was first a stay at home Mother and later a Registered Nurse at numerous hospitals including North Kansas City Regional Hospital, the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Veteran's Administration in Kerrville, Texas. In their later years, she and Roger traveled extensively in Mexico and Central America from their retirement homes in Kerrville, Texas and Glenwood and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Vivian will always be remembered for her kindness, patience, common sense and love for all people she encountered.

Vivian leaves a sister Marjorie Souder of Rudd, Iowa and three children, Julia Weaver of Burleson, Texas, and Jerry and James Williams of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Williams on October 26, 2007.
