On Wednesday the last sad rites were performed over the remains of Grandma Shipman. Rev. Preston preached her funeral sermon in the M. E. church. She was 80 years old. the mother of Hiram and Wallace Wright had for many years been a christian, and on the Wednesday previous to her death, was at church and testified the goodness of God.

Obituary.

Mrs. Diana Shipman, mother of H. C. and W. W. Wright, of this county, died at the home of H. C. Wright on Tuesday, the 8th inst. The funeral services were held at Peru and were conducted by H. C. Preston.

Mother Shipman was born in 1808. First married in 1828 to C. W. Wright. He died in 1838. Her second marriage occurred in 1858 with John Shipman, who died in 1868. Mother Shipman united with the M. E. church in 1859, and lived a consistent christian life, dying in the peace of the christian religion. A large number of people attended the funeral services, giving evidence of the high esteem in which she was held by all.
