A Sad New Years.

While the whole community were wishing one another a happy new year on last Tuesday, the family of Mr. G. A. Beerbower, about two miles west of town in Lincoln township, suffered a severe affliction in the sudden death of Miss Jessie, the only daughter left to them. Her health had been poor for some years, having suffered from consumption. But her death was not looked for, and in the forenoon she was reported hence, after having passed a rather uneventful night. Up to a very short time before her death, she was sitting up, talking and apparently feeling well, but she passed away suddenly about eleven o'clock in the forenoon. Her physician says that the apparent cause of death was dropsy of the heart.

This sad stroke is rendered all the more severe by the fact that Mrs. Beerbower has long been an apparently hopeless invalid and her death is looked for almost any time. Her constitution is badly shattered by the sufferings she has recently undergone, and the shock caused by her daughter's death is very hard on her.
